Our house party

I hope everyone enjoyed our little party, I thought it was pretty successful, lots of booze, lots of yummy canapes and lots of poker!

We were a bit worried it might be too crowed but I think we could have easily fit in another 5-6 people. So cocktail party is the way forward.. no more dinner party where we can only get in a maximum of 6 guests.

A nice relaxing day today having spent Sat preparing for the party and yesterday cleaning up after the party (so needed the rest!) and I have just realised a week tomorrow we are off to Rome for a few days! Can’t believe it… booked this holiday after New Year this year and we are going already.. time flies!!

I spent some time studying the map of Rome and we are actually staying inside the Vatican City, just think.. Vatican is a independent country, do we need a passport to go in and out of it?? it would be quite funny if you do :)

Vatican not only is the smallest country in the world.. it is also the least populous but at the same time most densely populated country.. quite unique huh? Not to mention the entire population is of course Roman catholic.. So yes really looking forward to it!!

Back at work now having spent the morning at the hospital’s Podiatric surgery department, basically, my consultant confirmed that the only option I have is surgery as my bunions problem is quite severe, and now I’m just waiting for the X-ray result to determine what procedure is more suitable, but no matter what, it will involves breaking at least two bones and re-attach with pins to straighten up the big toes, I will be on crutches for 6 weeks, one foot after another… so no gym, no bath for 12 weeks?! ouch!! But I guess with the NHS waiting list, nothing would happen till next year (at least after my skiing trip please…)

Anyway, enough of that.

Bank holiday weekend this week - having some friends over for a canapes party tomorrow night, I’m abit disappointed that some people can’t make it now but nevertheless, I hope it will be a good night!

And on Sunday, hopefully weather will be nice, cos we are having the last barbecue of the year at a friend’s, so fingers’ crossed

TB scare

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

The whole office was in a panic as my boss have just been diagnosed with tuberculosis. He’s been sick for months and I just remember we were out dinner one night back in July (well, not me and him but the whole office obivously) he sat next to me that night, I told him not to cough all over me and then he decided to wipe his snot on my arm, how disgusting!!

Pending on the test result of his immediate family, our entire office might also need to get tested. I’m not that concern cos I had BCG jab when I was a kid. But imagine our office might be having a day out to the chest clinic :p

We are in process of firming up our Canada trip and we should be booking our tickets next week.. Mike was talking to mum and little sister in Canada last night, his little sister is now taking riding lessons and she wants a pony for Christmas, haha.. it will be a tall order for Mike the big brother. Let’s stick with a Barbie doll huh?? :)

and looks like this is where we are going to spend our Christmas - http://www.lutsen.com/winter/

Canada here I come!!

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

Hee hee.. just had my holiday signed off by my boss for Christmas and New Year period and me and Mike are off to Canada for some Candian turkey!! (sorry we won’t be having x’mas meal at ours this year) What’s more? I get to show off my skiing skills!! Finally get to take my skis and ski boots out from the loft, probably have about 3 inches of dust on them though :)

I’m so excited.. already making a mental note of things I need to get…some new ski socks and bomber jacket to start with…

Always wanted to get one of those Northface puffy bomber jacket, now I have a prefect excuse :) Maybe someone would be kind enough to get me a size XS in black for my birthday??

Cherry blossom tree

Monday, August 14th, 2006

Well, I have decided to be artistic and paint my bedroom wall. The original plan was to cover one wall with trendy black/cream wallpaper, but Mike disapproved and I’m having trouble finding the right paper anyway, so I am painting this cherry blossom tree instead.

Planned to get it done over the weekend but I have under estimated the amount of work that involves, I seriously thought it can be done within few hours but 6 hours later I have only managed 30% of it..

(well, I blame Biff for making me stayed and drink tequilla with him Friday night, hence I didn’t get up till 1.30pm the next day)

The outline took over 2 hours which was mind-numbingly boring, and than I have to paint each and every one of the petals using a tiny paint brush.. and this is 6 hours of intense labour

Luckily, Mike quite like it and I really enjoyed doing it although my neck and arm hurt now.. it reminded me of my college time when I used too sit and paint for hours and hours :)

Hopefully by end of next weekend it would be completed!!
