I hate Mondays!

Monday, February 27th, 2006
It’s been a mad mad day this morning - got woken up at 6.30am as Mike started his new fitness routine trying to get in shape for our beach holiday, so he decided to go to the gym 1st thing in the morning before work. I tried to get back to sleep but at 6.40am received a work text message with some bad news (but there’s nothing I do anyway at 6.40am when I’m ’supposed’ to be sleeping still??) and then follow with the noisy rubbish collection…
I only have myself to blame for being such a light sleeper I guess.
Come into work knowing it will be an awful day today, it’s now 11.50am and my head feels like it’s going to explode soon! shit load of issues…. Can’t wait for the day to be over!
Oh well, at least I had a lovely weekend, went to see Sinatra at long last. It’s such a amazing show, the live orchestra, the dancers and the costumes are just fantastic, with footages of Sinatra himself being projected onto the huge screen it’s very much like him singing live!
Even at £55 per ticket I think it’s well worth it and would love to see it again at some point (but maybe not so close to the stage next time, we sat 6th row from the central of stage, which is supposed to be the best seats but I found myself having to look up as I’m a shortie!!)
We then finish off our Sat evening with a meal at Hakkasan, the atmosphere is incredible but like all ‘posh’ restaurants, the foods are not so good valued, hee hee £8 for a scoop of ginger ice-cream, firstly it’s pricy and most importantly, it’s not enough for an ice-cream monster like me!
Nevertheless, it’s nice treat! who can possibly complain for being wined and dined in such exquisite place?
(just reminded me that last time I went there for dinner I ended up throwing up into a champagne bucket after having too much chinese chradonnay to drink, how embarrassing huh!?)
Anyway, in end of March, we going to see Chicago aswell so I have this to look forward to. I know it’s only a musical but small things like this remind me that life is still worth living and give me energy to get up in the morning to face the horrible world.
Same reason for why I like to have two holidays booked up in advance :)

New challenge

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006
As you know, I have been trying to cut down on alcohol for some time now..
1/ stick to the daily allowance which is a maximum of 3 units a day, maximum of 21 a week (it’s unfair that guys are allowed 5 units a day)
2/ no drinking during week days
Limit myself to the daily allowance is proven to be hard as 2 x 125ml glass of wine of already give you 3.2units, I can easily down 1/2 bottle without even noticing it. Funny enough, I have been talking to people about unit measures and surprisingly, a lot people have no ideas how it works and assume one small glass of wine is simply one unit (heellooo!!?) Anyway, I haven’t been doing too badly, with exception of one or two occasions where I have completely lost track of how many units I had, well, it’s hard when the waiters keep topping up my champagne and stuff…
I have kept drinking diary since beginning of the year to help keeping track of my drinking (and how much I spend on alcohol)
week 1 - 10 units
week 2 - 14 units
week 3 - 10 units
week 4 - 10 units
week 5 - 19 units (I blamed the work lunch!)
week 6 - 9 units
week 7 - 19 units (hmm.. no excuse)
I’ve been thinking… it’s almost end of February and it’s time to set myself a new challenge - I would love to cut down to 5 units only per week - so 2 small glasses of wine on Friday and 1 medium glass on Saturday.
Ouch!! this is gonna hurt!!

My own movie rating

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

I never was a huge movie fan but I have watched number of movies lately, people including myself tend to be skint after x’mas and new year, also, have to plan the summer holidays, so stay home and watch a movie would be the cheapest entertainment! Anyway…. I thought it would be fun to be a film critic for once, so there’s a list of films I have watched, with a brief comment plus my star rating:

28 days later -  a budget production though good story line *

Chicago - would definitely watch the stage performance ****

Moulin Rouge - watched it twice, it’s really amazing *****

Lilo & Stitch 2 Stitch has a glitch - love Stitch!! ****

Dog

My sister’s new toy Aibo - he’s Bailey (but keep calling himself ‘wee wee’)

He’s still a baby but hopefully in times he will become a clever dog. I can’t wait to get my hands on it but not until my sister get bored of it. I surely cannot afford one of this fancy toy!
