ARRGG….

Thursday, December 29th, 2005

I’m not happy cos I ended up spending most of my day doing someone else’s work!

I’ve told my boss I won’t be coming in next Christmas I’m off to Canada for two weeks!

Zzzzzzz…

Thursday, December 29th, 2005

Zzzz… Once again I’m in the office all by myself, I do wonder why I even bother coming in… oh well, just gonna go through my emails and I’m out of here.

Haven’t been out for few days don’t realise how cold it is out there, looking forward to some snow later on today.

We had friends round for dinner on Tuesday. It’s fun doing it every now and then, but just how much work?! Preparation, cooking and the cleaning afterward. So much I love my friend but god, they are messy! (hee hee, sorry)

Just couple days left now before the New Year, so new year resolutions.. top of the list would definitely be cutting down on alcohol (er, same as last year)

Few things on the agenda for 2006.. renew mortgage being the most important on the to do list, furniture shopping for the flat, replacing a few bits (inc. TV and PC), book hotel for Malaysia holiday, going to see Europe Chamber Orchestra 1st Sat in Jan (they only doing three performances so it’s hard to get top seats, just as well, they are well expensive at £50 per ticket) Then off to see Sinatra in Feb.. that’s just the starter I’m sure 2006 will be another exciting year!

it’s Christmas!

It was our office X’mas party on Thursday, I said to myself that I won’t be drinking much but of course i drank loads again .. people just kept forcing alcohol down my throat! As the consequent, I was completely useless yesterday, oh well, I guess X’mas won’t be X’mas without the suffering of hang over.

No more work till next week now, so I can finally relax and not having to worry about work for a week! Things have been so manic the past couple of months, I so deserve a rest!
After nearly 2 months battling with my boss over pay review he has finally agreed to a 7.5% rise, bit disappointed as I was expecting at least 11%, but he promised to review again in three months, so will settle with it for now.
He also projected a 17% bonus next year - would be nice if it does happen, we are planning to spend next X’mas in Canada and we can do some skiing at last! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Been out today picking up the turkey etc for our dinner party. The fridge is now stuffed with foods and drinks, it’s never been so full before.
Really can’t wait till tomorrow, it’s been such a torture not allowed to touch any presents all these time! I just want to rip them all open (I really am still a kid deep inside)

To all my friends and family - have a lovely Christmas!

Old age

Friday, December 16th, 2005

Perhaps it’s a virus or maybe the old age is getting to me, I have been sick all week since last Sunday. Started with sore throat, then a tummy bug strike, following by mirgraine and back to sore throat again, generally just feeling weak and tired…
Staying at home these couple of days jst resting (not sickie just had to use up my annual leave) Not doing very much at all just been listening to Sinatra and reading The chronicles of Narnia. Narnia is one of the my birthday presents, Mike said I should read the original book before going to see The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe (yes sir!)
Speaking of Sinatra, we are going to see Sinatra at the London Palladium next year, we’ve got tickets for some very good seats :) quite excited about it - apparently, it’s a ‘ground-breaking’ use of the latest digital film and stage technology combining footage of Frankie with 24 piece live orchestra and dancers and special guests. Sounds interesting doesn’t it??

Anyway, I hope I will be better tomorrow for the family weekend…

Off to see Mike’s family tomorrow - I can picture us staying in a pub all afternoon, sometimes, I don’t understand the British culture where the parents just happily letting their baby being in such smokey environment, I guess it’s no big deal when they chain smoke all day in the house anyway?? surely it can’t be good for the kid’s health?

Sunday will be at my mum and dad’s - the Chinese would just eat eat and eat, until you drop dead!! hahaha :) Can’t tell which culture is worse…

December

X’mas tree’s finally up over the weekend - I did it all myself as Mike was in no condition to do anything after his office party. I’m really quite proud that I managed to bring the 7ft tall tree down from the attic.
I went out before hand to get some new decorations, surprisingly, the x’mas decorations are already on 1/2 price sales, that shows just how bad the retail is suffering this year! Well, I’m not complaining.. I’ve got my tree fairy for £4! bargain!
My social diary is pretty full this month - dinner parties, office parties, family gatherings, on top of that, my birthday party on Saturday coming. I don’t normally want to celebrate birthdays as I hate to be reminded that I’m getting old, but hey… I ‘m getting old whether I like it or not, so why not have a bit fun! (mind you, I still get ask for ID when I purchase alcohol, so I still ‘look’ under 21, woo hoo!!!)
It’s going to be a small cocktail party with just my close friends and Sally & Albert, I’m not keen on big celebration anyway so this is just prefect!
Having a couple of days of on my actual birthday next week, was planning to see the world’s biggest diamond exhibition at the Natural history museum, but unfortunately, due to security reason the exhibition has been closed permanently, how disappointing! I was very much looking forward to see that Millennium Star which worth £25 millions.
For christmas, we will be having a small intimate x’mas dinner party at our place - have already ordered the food, how organised am I?? Weare cheating abit just getting everything that’s already prepared and ready to cook (turkey stuffed… veggie washed and cut…) so that Mike can enjoy the evening more rather than just cooking food in the kitchen!

I’m back

Friday, December 2nd, 2005
I have not made an entry for over two weeks got to slot one in while I’m having my afternoon tea with er… chocolate  (it’s good quality chocolate I promise so they are actually good for my health!)
But really,  I shouldn’t be allow chocolate cos I have been naughty last night :( I stayed out drinking all night and Mike weren’t impressed! 7 units of alcohol plus a huge steak. But in my defense, I have had a tough few weeks at work. Things have been so manic here and the move added even more stress.. we were out of action for two whole working days, no email, phone or fax (like I always say, you pay peanuts and you get monkey working for you - those monkey IT support!!) Well, have been in our new office for a week now, still needed some finishing touches so we are working around the builders painting the walls, and tiling the bathrooms etc etc… luckily they are all Polish so at least they don’t have the British’s big fat builder’s bum
If you are allergic to dogs than you will have trouble working here, we are sharing this block with two others companies and everyone brings their doggy to work, so we have dogs running around all over the place, I don’t mind it so much if they don’t sniff my food or sit on my tweed handbag thinking it’s a cushion.
All in all, I really like it here, nice location, surrounded by lots of trendy bars and restaurants, and there’s great butcher just down the road, Mike can stop moaning about the supermarket poultry and meat from now on.
